Currently, version 2.0 is in private beta testing. I still have some code to write before it is ready to ship, but overall, it is looking pretty good. Feedback from the beta testers has been very positive.
Here are a list of features that have been fixed in version 2.0:
- Allow playfield to be maximized - This allows large monitors a nice playing area.
- Improved dominoe graphics - I designed a nice black with color dot dominoe set for the default. I also include several different sets in the initial download. If that is not enough, I created a forum here to help people create and share more unique dominoe sets.
- Increase strength of computer opponent
- Allow user selection of the following options:
- Single or Multiple spinners. Version 1.0 allowed for multiple spinner games only.
- Starting hand size of 5, 7, or 9 dominoes. Version 1.0 allowed 7 only.
- Limit drawing of more dominoes only when necessary or at any time. Version 1.0 allowed drawing at any time.
- Rounds start with largest double or user's choice. Version 1.0 always started each round with the largest double.
- When proposing an internet game, it will propose a game using your default rules as the rules for the online game. The remote user will see the rules before deciding to play or not.
- When proposing an internet game, ensure both players are using 2.0.
- Allow playfield background color to be changed.
- Web links have been added to the system menu for direct access to the web site and discussion board.
- A "Main Menu" has been added. This new menu is the first thing you see when you start the program. Version 1.0 jumped right into a game.
- Various minor bug fixes including the multiuser section
- Price reduced to $9.95. Version 1.0 was $15. The cost reduction is due to the fact that I don't have to be involved in each transaction as I was with 1.0.
- Registration System implemented that handles accepting money, giving out registration codes, and deactivating the game if the user decides not to buy. Trial period is 7 days which I think is fairly generous. Most of the games my daughter likes to buy only have 1 hour trial periods.
Here is a list of features still needing to be finished before 2.0 is ready to ship:
- Help File - I still need to write the help file and publish it to the web
Overall, I should be ready to ship version 2.0 before March 31, 2007.
EDIT: OK, so March 31 was a little opitmistic. I haven't had a chance to write the help file yet. I will write it real soon now though.
